Catholic Action Committee
The purpose of the Catholic Action Committee in Division #2 id to keep the members informed of incidents that are important to our local and national Catholic community; and to provide the means for the members to take appropriate action to make our opinions heard on particular incidents, issues and public policies. Some of these actions may consist of circulating petitions, advising members to contact politicians and sending official letters to appropriate officials. For more information, contact Bill Hawkins, Catholic Action Chairman.
There are many good organizations and websites that can be used to be keep informed about important to the Catholic Community. Listed below are a few.
The Catholic League
The Catholic League is the nation's largest Catholic civil rights
organization. Founded in 1973, it defends the rights of Catholics, lay and
clergy, to participate in American public life without disinformation or
discrimination. I urge every Hibernian to join the Catholic League
because; the Catholic League is the modern defender of our faith in
America. There are more Catholics in this nation than any other single
religion, yet we get the least respect. In order to win this battle, the
catholic League needs to build up its membership. The more members, the more
power and the more respect. The league is not financially supported by
anyone other than its members and private donors. However, It has the full
support of the Catholic Church and clergy. There is a nominal fee to join,
and there are discounts for seniors and students. To join the Catholic League go
to there website:

This organization is the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in New York State. Go to this wesite and check it out. It has information on all the bills before the state legislatores. It also has a take action ICON that when activated allows you to send a letter or e-mail to your senator of legislator to show support of opposition to any bill or policy. Politicians do react when they get enough e-mails or letters. Http://www.nyscatholic.org
The United Sates Conference of Catholic Bishops
This website ios similar to the New York State Catholic Conference, except it is a national website and can be used to contact your U.S. senator, congressman, and the president on issues important to Catholics. Http://www.usccb.org

Worthy President, Brothers
It seems that our politicians of both parties have forgotten who the tax payers and voters are of this great land.
They have forgotten our basic Christian moral standards.
Even when they propose to do good they don’t seem to get it right.
When they appropriate found for research they fund the destruction of embryos as if they were mice.
When they provide health care they fund abortion and want us to pay for it.
They even want to force pro-life doctors and nurses to provide abortion services.
In Massachusetts Catholic Charities was forced to close down because the law required them to place adoptive children with gay married couples.
In several US states assisted suicide is now legal.
Why is this happening, here in the US of A?
Could it be because they aren’t listening to us? Or is it because we aren’t speaking?
Are others speaking louder than we are?
We now have an opportunity to speak. If enough of us take this opportunity maybe they will listen.
It’s called the Manhattan Declaration. It’s a website that clearly defines our moral position as Christians when it comes to government.
Take a copy of the full declaration home with you tonight, go to the website and sign the declaration, but don’t stop there give it to your kids and relatives and get them to sign up also. It is also a good learning tool for discussions with your kids
